What a gorgeous weekend! I know this was just God tossing me a bone before unleashing a snowy winter ... I just KNOW it. So my joy is tempered somewhat. But this afternoon was yet ANOTHER day of getting leaves up from our yard. Megan came out to help too. At first she came out with a baseball bat. While very cute, I'm not sure that was going to help us with our leaf issue.
Next, she came running out with a basketball. Of course, the one day I'm looking for a little yard helper she decided it was a "let's play sports" day. So we stopped for a minute and kicked the basketball. We don't have a hoop up in our driveway ... yet, and let's be honest, her upper body strength can barely get the ball over her head, so it wouldn't do us any good anyway. So we kicked the basketball. But again, it wasn't helping the overall goal of picking up leaves.
So then she went back into the garage and came out with an umbrella. Huh? I have no idea what's going on with this girl's brain but she clearly was not in the mood to help us out. I mean there wasn't a cloud in the sky, why would I want an umbrella. The best thing I can think of is that an umbrella closely resembled a golf club and she wanted to work on her swing? I don't know. Her verbal skills are lacking so I was limited in my guesses.
Finally, she disappeared one last time and this time, when she came back, she finally understood the mission at hand.
She came back with POWER TOOLS!
More specifically, a leaf blower which allowed us to easily and briskly get the job done. Actually, the thanks belongs to our neighbors who let us borrow said leaf blower, but I'm almost sure they wouldn't have relented without seeing Megan's cute little face. Fortunately our front yard is predominantly leaf free. The backyard however .... is a different story.

When I saw the first picture with the bat, I thought she was trying to imagine a leaf blower in her hands! Maybe that was her plan with the umbrella too.
Steve used the good weather to rake our front yard and put up Christmas lights (he hates to do that when it is cold).
She looks so grown up, and I love her outfit today too. Miss you all so much...
