Half-Year Hulabaloo

Six months? SIX?! No way. Surely it hasn't been six months. Oh but it has. And despite my repeated attempts at pushing on the top of her furry red head, she continues to grow. and grow. and grow.

Megan has been a bit under the weather these past few days. She stayed home from daycare due to some 'digestion issues' and despite this we continued with our plans for camping with friends this past weekend. We had a great time, but I think Megan suffered a bit. Her nights were not fun and she refused to sleep during the day. As if to display her weariness, from 6 pm last night when we left the camp through putting her to bed at 7 pm tonight she was up a grand total of 7 hours, in a 25-hour span. Poor kiddo. But her temperature is steady at 98.2 and she hasn't had any 'digestive episodes' since being home.

So as a mea culpa to my precious daughter I HAD to put together her six-month video upon our return. It was pieced together quickly and there were very few pictures this month because of a lack of trips (hence the wedding of her Uncle John and Aunt Christine dominate the slides).

Both grandparents have scheduled trips to see us in September though so that should help our picture supply. Maybe some early pumpkin picking those weekends? Early Halloween costume shopping?

Or lots of holding. and lots of kisses. She's used to that.

As you have surmised, the time does pass very quickly. If I hadn't seen all the photos in context, I don't know if I would have recognized some very early photos of Megan's first days. You mentioned Halloween costumes as a near future event, but then it is only a few short weeks until Thanksgiving, then Christmas and then her one-year birthday party...

It will all be here--and gone--so quickly. I hope you can continue to savor all the precious moments that bring her to adulthood. I have to say, that my current personal favorite is the "green beans" video--that one will be tough to top!

Hope to see you all soon!

Megan's book selection, Zen Ties, reminds me to tell you that Mei Xiang in DC will not have a cub this year. Lun Lun in Atlanta, however, did have a male cub on August 30 but it is not doing as well as everyone would like. The zookeepers at the Giant Panda Center are giving both mom and cub antibiotics and the cub appears to be responding better but is still in guarded condition. Maybe we can take Megan to see them one day.

I can't believe how old and big she is getting! (That comment is only appropriate when you're a baby, so tell her not to return the sentiment.) Can't wait to see her..and you guys...in a few weeks!
