Here we are ... November 18th, and I've reached my figurative breaking point. This is where I want to throw in the towel, it's 11:33 pm and I have 27, no wait, make that 26 minutes now to post this and continue this masochistic charade. In truth, most nights it's fun to type these up (usually while Jillian is bathing Megan and putting her to bed). But last night was a late night of my own choosing, going to a basketball game right after work and Wednesday nights I play tennis after work and so ... well, it's been two bad days. I've seen my daughter a grand total of about two hours in the past two days, and when she's supposed to be the muse for the entire blog, it makes crafting new and unique stories for people to read a bit on the tough side.
But I know Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I will have a fresh batch of stories from that ... so I am plodding forward. I appreciate those fearless warriors out there who continue the daily trek over here to see what new goodies await. I'm sure your place in heaven is secured.

I mentioned in a previous post our trip last month to Cincinnati. The whole reason for going in the first place was to help celebrate Reva Riel's second birthday; another Cincy friend who was supposed to be one of her lifelong BFFs. As a first time parent, I was all about wanting to throw together this huge, all encompassing birthday party for Megan when she turned one. Then when the day came and everybody was there, I realized I was an idiot because the guest of honor was scared of 90 percent of the people there. It was too overwhelming. Well, the Riels are WAY smarter than me, and for Reva's second birthday party they kept everything extremely low key (or at least made it seem effortless anyway), which was perfect. The little kids played in the grass oblivious that there was even a party going on, and the snacks and food were great. I think it also helped that it was a gorgeous fall day as well.
The downside of these events is that because there's a huge event going on, the time we got to spend with our friends was extremely limited. But any time together is better than no time. So who knows if Reva and Megan will be pen pals in the future when they learn their letters, but I know their parents will be good friends regardless of the distance.

It is 11:02 for me and I have stayed up, hitting the refresh key from time to time, having faith that you would make today's post and not throw in the towel. I am so glad to report that my wait was rewarded! I really love the way you can just write about your thoughts in such an uninhibited and interesting way. Have a good night and know that better days and more time with Megan and Jillian will come. Sweet dreams :-)
I'm totally feeling the pressure, and I have Dustin to split the blogging duties! Way to fight the good fight. I'm inspired that you were able to get a coherent entry done in a half hour. Mine seem to take full days, and still end up just this side of rambling.
Glad you got to see the riels.....They're good stuff. And the girls are adorable together (including Karen)
