I don't want to bury the lead here, so rest assured, she still has not gotten a haircut. However, Jill did bring some hair clips home for herself, which Megan promptly decided belonged to her. So the picture shows her ridiculousness with those clips.
But in all seriousness, I think we're getting to the point where we're starting to wonder/think about doing something with that mane of hers. It is extremely long and fine, especially in the back. The problem was her bangs were slow to catch up to the rest and we wanted to let it have a chance to grow out. Well now it has. So much so that I find myself brushing the hair out of her eyes about 65 times a day.
Just sweep it back and put a barrette in it you say? Sounds great. Much like 'just passing a comprehensive health care plan' is easy. Unfortunately Megan won't keep bows or barrettes in her hair. We can do pigtails but her hair is so long that got ridiculous and now it's more like one big ponytail in the back.
So I'm seeking the advice of the internet. How long did those of you with kiddos wait to have their 'first hairstyle' done? I'm also worried she won't sit still long enough at this stage of her life to have her hair done, and I don't want to even fathom that outing at this point. But maybe it's time. I don't know. This is girls and hair we're talking about, I am completely out of my element. Any help?

boys are easier! Jason didn't have hair for the first year... then it came in curly... then it was summer, so Matt just took the clippers to it... but then we missed the curls... so now its long again-- BUT they do have these great little kid haircut places! Jason got to sit in a green car, hold some cool dinosaurs, and picked out his own video to watch while the lady cut his hair: Thomas the Train! look into those kid places... I bet she'd love it!
Yeah, it's always a difficult thing to figure out. I remember that we didn't have Jacqui get her first haircut until she was 36 months old. She screamed and cried the whole time, but it was worth it.
For our Bella, she too, had to have the baby mullet hacked off at an early age to even it out. Since then (she's 4 1/2 now), I have kept her bangs trimmed to a polite length and have only trimmed the back once myself before she started preschool. I have horrible memories of strangers thinking that my brother and I were twin boys, so I'm kinda scared to do anything drastic to her locks.
I say, if she lets you put it in ponies...trim the bangs and let it grow!
