Ear Infections

No pictures today, but there is Megan news. The past two weeks Megan hadn't been sleeping through the night. We chalked it up to a new environment at first but then as it continued we felt less comfortable with her 'fighting her way through it'. So on Friday we took her to her new pediatrician, whom I like a lot by the way ... whew, and after checking her out we found out our concerns were validated. She did, in fact, have her fifth ear infection in the past 5-6 months.

No wonder our little girl was so cranky. So she's been on meds for the past three days, and lo and behold, she's slept through the night for all three of them. Hallelujah! Our doctor did say that if she gets another ear infection though, then we're definitely looking at putting tubes in her ears. I was worried at first about the 'surgery' and still am a little, but it's VERY minor and not serious, according to our doctor and my personal friend and second opinion sounding board, Mike O'Rourke.

So as her first birthday approaches, she is improving considerably. Which is good. We need her in good spirits for her celebration.

Hopefully she will feel great on her b-day. I had tubes as a kid. I even had to wear ear plugs in the swimming pool. I wasn't very good at Marco....Polo, but hey what can you do.

Poor thing. I too had ear infections constantly as a kid. Not sure why I didn't have to get tubes. Maybe they figured the eye patch was enough for one baby?

And I'm pretty sure as long as you give her cake, her Bday will be just fine.

BP, I had tubes 13 times, including 5 years ago. So, take that for what it's worth...

Max just got tubes in December. It was scary. But I went back with him and held him while they 'put him to sleep.' Then we went to get food and they paged me within 10 minutes, I thought something horrible happened, but no...he was done. Though, he did come out of his anesthesia super pissed! Not like himself, and his loving parents laughed. He hasn't been down for a week with 104 temps since. He has worked his way through 2 colds without an ear infection (something he'd never done before) and is in good spirits. He is 3 and had developed a resistance to amox.... I am a tube advocate. Hope she feels better!
