Hopefully all of you in the vast blogosphere survived Halloween. Our pumpkins did, and Megan did. Barely.
To be fair to Megan, it was more of an all-day affair, complete with costume changes, and an array of new sensory perceptions. So the fact that she crashed earlier than normal last night was not a surprise.
To start the day, her school had a Halloween parade around the grounds. Because of her size, we decided to for comfort and functionality over form. So we put an orange shirt and pants on her, and thanks to Jill's mom and her sewing efforts, a nice autumn hat, and called her a 'pumpkin.' Jillian mentioned that her teacher appreciated the minimalist costume as they frantically stuffed all the infants into the oversized costumes their parents had brought for them to wear.
I was sad I couldn't be there for the parade, but Jillian said it was really cute and Megan had an awesome time riding in the wagon.
However, at some point in the afternoon she decided to spit up on her lovely orange shirt, which necessitated an outfit change. We frantically thought about what we could dress her in, and finally remembered the great Arsenal soccer kit that the Sampsons gave Megan.
So the whole family threw on their Arsenal jerseys and we made it a family-themed night. Jillian was gracious enough to stay behind and hand out candy while I toted Megan around half of our block to collect candy. There was no doubt I was using her for my own personal candy gain, but she looked cute, so I wanted to show her off.
On our trek, Megan met lots of new people (two of whom confused her for a boy ... hey, girls can be into sports too!), two dogs, a cat, a huge, inflatable spider, and various kids of all shapes and sizes in outfits she had never seen before. She was fighting sleep the entire time we went around the 'hood, but she made it and I'm already excited for next year ... when she can walk on her own.
